Standing up for our city’s military veterans
I’m a former soldier, have served on combat duty in the British Army and take a close interest in issues to do with the welfare of people who serve and who have served in our armed forces.
Here are some of the things I’ve been doing to get better quality care for our city’s military veterans.
September 2023
I hosted a roundtable with veterans in Norwich, in collaboration with the fantastic Matthew Project.
The veterans I spoke to feel let down by the Government, which makes the work of organisations like the Matthew Project even more invaluable, as they step up to provide community-based support.

May 2023
I was invited to drop in at the weekly Veterans Integrated Service (VIS) meeting at St Matthew’s on Oak Street.
The Veterans Integrated Service and an organisation called Outside the Wire – which specialises in rehabilitation for veterans – work in partnership. It was great to get the opportunity to show my support for these projects.
It was good to see that despite the current challenging environment for all charities, VIS still offers veterans follow-on support and high-quality services.
