Clive Lewis For Norwich South
Following the proposal that Norfolk will be allocated new funds as part of a devolution deal, I was asked by BBC Politics East for my thoughts.
The reality is, whilst devolution to local authorities is necessary and significant, this deal unfortunately does little to transfer power to councillors in Norwich. This is because 10 Conservative county councillors will be able to elect a new mayor with new powers given by this deal.
In effect this deal is devolution in name only.
Along with the proposed devolution deal, the panel and I also discussed the levelling up fund, as well as the role of police in protecting women.
