In today’s session of the Environmental Audit Sub-Committee on Polar Research, I asked David Rutley, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Americas, Caribbean and the Overseas Territories, what the British Government is doing diplomatically to try and bring countries like the US to ratify key agreements related to Antarctic tourism.

David told me that the Government is working with these countries bilaterally to encourage them to ratify the agreement.

After asking about what the potential stumbling blocks were, he also told me that there can often be different processes such as the fact that any agreement must go through Congress in the US.

You can watch the full session here. My questioning of David Rutley begins at 16:27:00.
