Clive Lewis For Norwich South
This week, ahead of the debate for my Private Members’ Bill on Water, I hosted the ‘Clean Water’ drop-in event in Parliament.
20 MPs turned up, even as the Government was making a major announcement simultaneously.
Many told us they came precisely because their constituents made it clear this issue matters to them. The MPs shared sewage horror stories from their constituencies, showing how widespread the crisis truly is.
I co-hosted this event with Compass, alongside MP Watch and Professor David Hall, co-author of UNISON’s report on public ownership of water.
We and many others are united by one truth: privatised water has failed. The public must have a say in how this essential resource is run.
The next big moment is just days away.
My Private Members Bill will be debated on Friday, March 28th. This bill would give the public a real say about who should own our water. That’s only a week away.
Over 8,000 of you have already emailed their MPs asking them to attend.
Will you help us make one last big push and get to 10,000?
This campaign has momentum, and I believe we can bring significant change if we keep pushing. It’s only worked so far because of the pressure coming from people all over the country.
So, let’s keep the pedal to the floor to try and take back our water.
